Immerse yourself in the enchanting embrace of the Vienna Musikverein, a revered musical haven we proudly call our "home." Every December, a cherished tradition unfolds as we grace the stage of the world-renowned "Golden Hall" within this illustrious concert hall, offering a resplendent Christmas concert. And as January dawns, we usher in the New Year with a vibrant program, resounding with the timeless melodies of the waltz king himself, Johann Strauss, and other esteemed composers.

History of the Viennese Musikverein

The Viennese Musikverein's history is steeped in rich heritage. Often referred to simply as the "Musikverein," it stands as a testament to the enduring passion for music in Vienna. The "Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde" (Society of Friends of Music), the esteemed custodians of this architectural gem, constructed the building on Emperor Franz Joseph's donated land, and on January 6, 1870, it was unveiled to the world. At the heart of the Vienna Musikverein lies the resplendent "Golden Hall," adorned with magnificent decor and housing a historic organ crafted by the renowned Austrian firm Rieger in 1907. In 2001, the building underwent a meticulous renovation and expansion, encompassing additional rehearsal and concert halls.

Renowned for its lavish and revered acoustics, the Golden Hall of the Musikverein stands proudly among the world's top concert halls, alongside esteemed counterparts like Symphony Hall in Boston and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Spanning 48 meters in length, 19 meters in width, and soaring 18 meters high, it boasts over 1,700 seats and 300 standing places. This iconic venue has gained global acclaim, partly due to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, whose residence lies within these walls.

Step into the world of musical opulence, where every note resonates within the majestic embrace of the Golden Hall, transporting you to a realm of unrivaled auditory bliss. The Vienna Musikverein beckons, inviting you to partake in a symphonic experience of unparalleled grandeur.

Our Conductors

Karl Korak

Since 1979, I have had the privilege of being engaged as a musician in the esteemed Viennese Theater company, "Vereinigte Bühnen Wien." This longstanding association has allowed me to contribute my musical talents and immerse myself in the vibrant world of theater.

In 1990, I assumed the role of Director at the music conservatory in Lower Austria, shaping the musical education and nurturing the talents of aspiring musicians. It has been a fulfilling journey to guide and inspire the next generation of musical virtuosos.

Simultaneously, since 1986, I have proudly held the position of Art Director for the renowned "Vienna Mozart Orchestra." This esteemed ensemble has provided me with the opportunity to showcase my artistic vision and curate captivating musical performances that resonate with audiences worldwide.

My concert endeavors have taken me far and wide, gracing stages across the globe as both a clarinet player and conductor. With unwavering dedication, I have lent my musical prowess to various orchestras and chamber music formations, bringing harmonious melodies to life in diverse settings and cultures.

With an extensive career spanning over 30 years, I have developed a profound expertise in the realms of film and musical genres. This has been honed through my longstanding involvement in the premier musical show orchestra in Europe. It has been an honor to contribute to the vibrant tapestry of these genres, enchanting audiences with every performance.

My educational journey led me to the prestigious University of Music in Vienna, where I attained a Diploma for Concert Performance with Distinction. Additionally, I achieved a Diploma for Instrumental Pedagogics with distinction, equipping me with the necessary skills to guide and inspire aspiring musicians. Furthering my knowledge, I pursued studies in orchestra conducting, culminating in a Magister Artium in Music Ethnology.

My passion for music extends beyond performance and education. I have delved into the realm of music ethnology, publishing notable works such as "Das einzigartige Buch vom Edlertrio" (Austrian Music Ethology) and contributing to the annual book for Austrian Music Ethology with "Das Edler Trio." These endeavors shed light on the rich history of popular music in Austria during the latter half of the 20th century.

Notably, my thirst for knowledge led me to a foreign year in 1976 at the esteemed Eastman School of Music in New York. This transformative experience deepened my understanding of orchestral conducting, broadening my artistic horizons.

Through a lifelong commitment to music, I have embraced diverse opportunities, explored new frontiers, and honed my craft as a versatile musician and conductor. It is a privilege to share my passion and contribute to the vibrant tapestry of the musical world.
